Alister joined Dean & Associates in 1972 and has been part of the firm's growth and evolution over the years.

Alister has broad experience in property, trusts and asset planning, elder law and estates. Alister's clients retain him because of his compassionate, sensitive and practical approach to their work. Alister has built a very strong relationship with the community of the Waitaki and is a trusted and respected adviser.

Clients appreciate Alister's grounded and considerate style when advising them on matters such as wills, applications for probate, distributions, estate planning, rest home care and general conveyancing.

Born and bred in the Waitaki, Alister has a strong community focus and currently serves on the Golden Oldies Rugby Festival committee which will coincide its activities with the country's Rugby World Cup celebrations. He has also been a chief organiser of Waitaki Boys High School and Enfield Rugby Club reunions together with serving terms as secretary of the North Otago A&P Association, North Otago Tennis Association and various other committees.

Alister is family orientated and enjoys spending time with his children when they return from overseas. He is also a fitness enthusiast and competes in half marathons and triathlon events around Otago, he enjoys tramping, nature walks and also duck shooting. Ali can often be seen leading his running group from outside the firm every Wednesday night and he also has an interest in local art and the environment.
